As a Part-Time Science Teacher with Insight School of Wisconsin you will be responsible for the direction and facilitation of innovative, student-focused online high school courses. Under the supervision of the school’s principal, you will conduct online interactive instructional and tutorial sessions, promptly evaluate and monitor coursework, and establish frequent communication with students via email and telephone. Instruction is based on a pre-developed and state approved curriculum, housed in Angel Learning Management System. Working from home, you will complete work-related activities through a combination of school day and non-school day hours.

Duties:

Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:
  1. Establish times at which you will be “at work” during the work week which will be times that students are most likely to need your responsiveness.
  2. Hold office hours at least one day per week during business hours. (M-F 8-5PM)
  3. Respond to student and family emails or questions within one school day / twenty-four hour response period.
  4. Make student engagement and retention top priority.
  5. Grade assessments and assignments within three school days / seventy-two hours. The immediate knowledge of results is a key motivator in student progress.
  6. Conduct one 1-hour Elluminate session per week/per course.
      a. Create engaging learning opportunities that reflect the week’s key concepts from the course material
      b. Be persistent in encouraging students to attend sessions
      c. File recording links appropriately so that students have access
      d. Track student attendance and access history
  7. Adhere to state specific school contact policy
  8. Participate in National Subject Area Specialist (NSAS) initiatives and webinars.
  9. Attend faculty meetings as scheduled by the school Principal/s.
  10. Attend IEP meetings as required by state law.

Qualifications:

  • Highly Qualified and Certified to teach high school level Science in Wisconsin
  • Bachelor’s degree in respective academic program or related field required; familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a field related to the area of instruction.
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and the Internet. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems, and Webinar programs is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with students, faculty, mentors, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving and decision-making abilities to facilitate the on-line high school learning experience and perform the functions described above.
  • Must possess the ability to convey a professional image as well as effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community
Timeline:
Fall semester instructional duties will commence late-August. All new Insight Schools teachers are required to complete 35 – 40 hours of new teacher training to be scheduled in July or August. New teacher training is self-paced and is to be completed online.

Salary:
Compensation is determined based on the number of students assigned at the beginning of the semester. Starting part-time salary range is $3,800 - $7,600 per semester.
